Donald Trump launches nightly campaign show on Facebook Live
Republican candidate's video program will be hosted by Trump advisors and a conservative political commentator.
With about two weeks left before the US presidential election, Donald Trump is shaking up his White House efforts with the launch of a nightly campaign coverage program.
Starting Monday, the video program will run on Trump's Facebook campaign page weeknights at 6:30 p.m. ET, the Trump campaign announced on its Facebook page. The program will originate from Trump Tower and be hosted by Trump advisor Boris Epshteyn, conservative political commentator Tomi Lahren, a political news site publisher who is also serving as a Trump advisor.
The Trump campaign did not immediate respond to a request for comment on its plans for the program, but it appears to be a far cry from the branded TV network the Republican candidate is rumored to be planning to launch. Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law through his marriage to Trump's daughter, Ivanka, has discussed the idea with Aryeh B. Bourkoff, the chief executive of investment bank LionTree, according to a Financial Times report last week.
Trump tested the waters for the new program during last week's final debate with Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton by posting a live feed to the debate with a comment that said: "If you're tired of biased, mainstream media reporting (otherwise known as Crooked Hillary's super PAC), tune into my Facebook Live broadcast."
The alternative feed, appearing under a heading called "#TrumpTV," featured commentary from retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn and former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, and reportedly attracted 9 million page views.
