Flybrix Lego drone is built for crashes
Smashed a drone or two in your time? The Flybrix is a build-it-yourself toy drone made from Lego bricks. Crash away!
You never forget the first time you crash a drone. Or the second. Or the third.
Fortunately, Flybrix makes every crash a learning experience rather than a lingering bad memory. It's a build-it-yourself toy drone that's made from Lego bricks, though the company is not associated with Lego.
Each Flybrix kit comes with all the components necessary to build a toy drone in a quadcopter, hexacopter or octocopter configuration. Batteries, motors, propellers and a control board are all included. Once you've built the basic sets, you can add on and configure the copter to your heart's content.
Customization options extend to the LED lights that can be programmed within the accompanying app for iOS and Android. Users can change colors and patterns to indicate when the drone is armed and ready to fly. Flight time ranges from 5 to 7 minutes, depending on the size and weight of the craft.
The Flybrix is available as a basic kit for an introductory price of $149 (£114 or AU$195) or a deluxe kit that includes an RC controller for $189 (£145 or AU$247), with prices rising to $189$189 (£145 or AU$247) and $249 (£192 or AU$326) respectively after an introductory period.
