At the height of the Pokemon craze, every kid knew this song

Jason Paige reclaims his spot in history as the voice of Pokemon.

When his parents denied him a Super NES, he got mad. When they traded a prize Sega Genesis for a 2400 baud modem, he got even. Years of Internet shareware, eBay'd possessions and video game testing jobs after that, he joined Engadget. He helped found The Verge, and later served as Gizmodo's reviews editor. When he's not madly testing laptops, apps, virtual reality experiences, and whatever new gadget will supposedly change the world, he likes to kick back with some games, a good Nerf blaster, and a bottle of Tejava.

I won't lie: I can sing this tune by heart. This is the first time I've heard the original Pokemon theme song in nearly two decades, but the words come back like it was yesterday.

This version isn't from the '90s, though. You're watching the original singer, Jason Paige, belt it out in 2016. Seems like it's yesterday for him, too. Guy never made any royalties on the song, was originally paid just a few hundred dollars for his trouble, but he sure does own it now.

And now, for a nostalgia overload if you remember Pokemon like I do: the PokeRap.
