News anchor playing Pokemon Go strolls through live weather forecast
Pokemon Go addiction invades a newsroom and causes a brief interruption during a morning weather forecast.
Weatherman Bobby Deskins with WTSP 10 News in Florida was in the middle of a normal forecast on Monday morning, talking about the temperature, when news anchor Allison Kropff walked in front of him and his weather map while staring intently at Pokemon Go on her phone. Kropff shared a video of the humorous incident on her Facebook page with the caption "That moment you realize you may be addicted to #PokemonGO...."
The Pokemon stunt appears to have been staged all in good fun, though it's unclear if Deskins was in on the planning. His laugh seems genuine, and he comments, "You guys got to be careful with these phones and these Pokemon. You're just walking around all over." You can hear laughter coming from the WTSP team in the background.
Pokemon Go has become quite the gaming phenomenon in the last week, boasting a staggering 15 million downloads and already racking up more daily user engagement than Facebook and Twitter, according to daily-usage stats.
It's also leading players into all sorts of strange real-world situations. One woman discovered a dead body in the course of the game. Another Pokemon Go hunter fell into a pond. That makes Kropff's live-on-air stroll seem pretty tame by comparison. There's no word on which Pokemon creature Kropff was pursuing or if she caught the little monster.
