Apple to become a wireless carrier? Unlikely says CEO Tim Cook
The executive has said that Apple lacks the network skills needed to become a wireless provider.

As reported earlier by 9to5Mac, Apple CEO Tim Cook has said the iPhone maker doesn't "have the network skill" to become a wireless provider. The executive reportedly made the comments as part of an interview at Startup Fest Europe in Amsterdam on Tuesday.
"Our expertise doesn't extend to the network," Cook reportedly said. "We've worked with AT&T in the US, O2 in the UK, as well as T-Mobile and Orange, and we expanded as we learned more. But generally, the things Apple likes to do, are things we can do globally."
The executive went on to explain that Apple will "do some things along the way with e-SIMs," however as a whole Cook said that he likes "the things carriers do." An e-SIM is software that replaces a physical SIM card and allows you to more easily switch carriers.
Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
