Sony touts streaming, Nintendo reveals Amiibo

At E3 2014, Sony shows off new PlayStation hardware and services for streaming, and Nintendo demos Amiibo toy figurines that work with Wii U and 3DS games.

Watch this: Sony touts streaming, Nintendo reveals Amiibo

This CNET Update highlights the big news from Sony and Nintendo at this year's E3 video game trade show. If you were undecided whether to buy an Xbox One or PlayStation 4, Sony gave a more persuasive argument with a jam-packed presentation of new games, hardware and services. Microsoft kept its presentation focused on upcoming Xbox One games.

And Nintendo offered some new reasons to pick up a Wii U. The hot new collectable this holiday will be Amiibo toy figures that work with games like Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart 8. When the toy touches the game controller, it loads a character into the game. The toy also saves player data. Several upcoming games revealed will also breathe new life into the Wii U.
