Hi.
This is Vizio's P Series TV.
I have a 65 incher behind me.
I'm David Katzmaier and I'm here to tell you all about it.
The P Series is one of the least expensive 4K TVs in the market.
And we've been excited about it ever since it was introduced at CES last January.
Now that we've had a chance to review it, however, we're just a little bit disappointed.
I'll tell you why in a little bt but first let's take a look at the design of the set.
Vizio's P series is a pretty basic looking TV.
It's got kinda darker, silver edge around the side and it's also got that matching silver on the base.
The base doesn't swivel, it's a nice low profile TV.
So all told one of the more subtle of the 4K TV designs out there.
If you look at it from the side it seems a little bit thicker, and that's because the TV uses a full ray local dimming backlight.
That's one of the great things about, and that's one of its chief features aside from that 4k resolution.
Otherwise, the feature set isn't bloated; which is a good thing, the main thing to talk about is the connectivity.
There's five HDMI, including the fifth that can accept 4k signals at 60 frames per second.
The other four can accept standard 4k signals, so all total excellent connectivity suite.
As you'd expect from a high end TV, this set has a full smart TV feature, including the ability to stream 4K Netflix.
Video says it's also gonna add Amazon's 4K streaming and something called Ultraflix in the near future.
One of the things that I like about this set, Smart TV is you can flip the remote on the other side and you can use its QWERTY keyboard to type in searches, log ins and things like that relatively quickly.
Of course the main question is it makes sense for 4K TV is how well it performs.
There's some good points and some bad points, I'll start with the good.
This TV's local dimming backlight allows it to achieve very deep black levels, which we really appreciated.
Excellent contrast for an LCD TV, among the best we tested.
On the flip side, that contrast can be a little bit high.
The TV's actually tuned a little hot, so you see some highlights that pop a lot more than they should.
And the gamma, which is shadow detail, can be a little bit bright at times as well.
The 55 inch version this series all season IPS panel which makes those black levels not quite as deep as the others.
so it's actually a worse performer than the other sizes in the series.
So I'd avoid the 55 inch if you're stickler for picture quality.
The main flaw with the picture quality is this TV's video processing.
The tv intends to enhance details and make edges a little bit too sharp, which you think would be a great thing.
But ends up making the picture look relatively unnatural, especially compared to other high-end 4K tvs out there.
So if Vimeo could provide the option to turn that off, which will be something maybe it'll do in a future firmware update, it will improve the picture.
As it stands for now, though, the piece here is a little bit disappointing, especially given all the hype.
