Get the Android L keyboard right now
Running Android 4.0 and above? You can get the new-look Android L keyboard without waiting for its official release this fall.
Last month when Google showed off the next version of Android, currently dubbed Android L, a redesigned keyboard was also revealed.
The new keyboard lacks lines to differentiate where one button stops and another starts, and carries over the core color theme from the new Material Design approach by Google.
Naturally it didn't take long for developers to dissect the system images of Android L released by Google. pull out some of the core apps, and reengineer them for current Android devices.
Once such change was made to the Android L keyboard by developer Shen Ye and can currently be found in the Google Play store for free.
You'll need to be running Android 4.0 and above in order for the keyboard to function. The keyboard functions just as it will when Android L is released later this year. After installing the app, follow the prompts to set it as your default keyboard. It's that easy.
