Wonder Woman Barbie will land at San Diego Comic-Con ready for battle
Get this geektastic version of Barbie based on actor Gal Gadot's character in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."
Barbie has gone through a few changes over the years. Whether she's getting a more diversified body makeover or Wi-Fi-connected talking capabilities, Barbie evolves with the demands of her loyal fans.
Now Barbie and Wonder Woman fans will have a chance to pick up the iconic doll dressed as the iconic DC Comics superheroine at this year's San Diego Comic-Con International July 20-24.
USA Today revealed the first look at Wonder Woman Barbie from Mattel on Thursday.
This news is even more apropos considering the controversy DC Comics' main competitor Marvel is dealing with. It was revealed last week that the company gender-swapped a villain in "Iron Man 3" from female to male because Marvel didn't think female comic book character toys would sell as well.
This exclusive collectible is modeled after actor Gal Gadot's version of Wonder Woman in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." A stand-alone "Wonder Woman" movie is due to hit theaters in June 2017.
Retailing for $80 (about £54, AU$111), Wonder Woman Barbie is dressed in Gadot's battle-ready costume from "Batman v Superman," complete with her sword and shield.
She is also wearing a blue hooded cape with gold lamé lining, a paneled skirt and red bustier, differing from previous costumes Wonder Woman has worn over the years.
