Suicide Squad assemble! Will Smith and the rest of the cast of the forthcoming supervillain movie have gathered for their first team snapshot.

Tweeted by director David Ayer, the photo sees the cast gathered to run through the script. "Suicide Squad", expected to be released in August 2016, sees a team of DC Comics villains recruited to pull off dangerous missions -- a kind of superpowered Dirty Dozen. The team includes Batman villains Killer Croc, Hugo Strange and the clown prince of crime himself, the Joker.

So who's in the photo and in the cast? From left to right we have the director Ayer, previously known for "Fury", "End of Watch", and not smiling, probably. Next to him in grey is Joel Kinnaman, from "The Killing" and "Robocop", who plays team leader Rick Flagg. Next to him is Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje from "Lost", "Thor: The Dark World" and "Game of Thrones", who will play the reptilian Killer Croc.

Next to him is Jay Hernandez from the "Hostel" movies, rumoured to be playing El Diablo. Throwing horns is "A Good Day to Die Hard" star Jai Courtney as Australian-themed baddie Boomerang. To his right in the grey hat is Viola Davis from "The Help" and "How to Get Away with Murder", who will play the squad's uncompromising boss Dr. Amanda Waller.

Wearing the grey t-shirt is Adam Beach from "Flags of Our Fathers" and "Arctic Air", who is rumoured to play martial artist Ravan. In the baseball cap is Jim Parrack, who worked with Ayer on "Fury", and who plays deadly mercenary Deathstroke. Far right is Ike Barinholtz from "The Mindy Project", playing villainous scientist Hugo Strange, a character that made his debut as a Batman baddie back in 1940 and actually predates better-known villains such as the Joker.

Taking the weight off his feet seated on the left is "Fresh Prince" star Will Smith, who plays expert marksman Deadshot. Next to him is newcomer Karen Fukuhara who will play explosive terrorist Plastique. And speaking of bombshells, in the centre is "Wolf of Wall Street" star Margot Robbie, who plays the Joker's unhinged paramour Harley Quinn.

Last but not least, seated on the right is kooky supermodel-turned-actress Cara Delevingne, who will play the magical Enchantress.

Missing from the picture is Jared Leto, who becomes the latest actor to take on the role of the highest-profile character on the team, the Joker. Maybe he's behind the camera? Much has been made of Leto cutting off his flowing locks to essay the smiling psychopath, so maybe they're deliberately keeping his style mysterious.
