Jawbone Up Move an affordable little tracker for a great fitness app
[MUSIC]
For only $50 bucks you can get in on one of the best fitness software apps out there.
Do you take the plunge?
I'm Scott Stein and this is the Jawbone Up Move.
Fitness trackers have gotten really cheap lately.
The Misfit Flash and the Jawbone Up Move are $50.
They're very similar types of fitness trackers.
They're both little, plastic pucks that come with clip accessories or work with little silicon watchbands or rubber watchbands.
The up move comes just with clip in the box.
It has a built in battery that lasts up to six months before it needs replacing.
If you wanna get the wristband, that's an extra $15.
Now the up move works with the jawbone up app.
Previously you had to wear one of those.
Round bands the Up 24 of the up.
The Up 3 is on the way too and does heart rate tracking.
This just does step counting and automatic sleep tracking basically the same stuff that the band did minus the vibrational alerts.
Some of those are nice for wake up calls, but this does the job.
And if you want to check your step count, all you do is press this button, and it'll show you your daily progress via a little ring of LED lights.
Very much like the Misfit Flash and Shine.
To check the time, you double click, and it even gives you a little blinking time readout, too.
It also does automatic sleep, or manual sleep tracking.
You press and hold the button, or it'll even know when you were sleeping, and ask if it was right.
The reason to get this is to tap in to the UP apps.
It is the best software ecosystem that we've seen in mobile fitness.
It has calorie counting, it has fitness tracking, it has social activities, it has coaching suggestions and life planning to some extent.
You can connect a lot of other apps and even things like wireless scales.
And in the future you'll be able to work in heart rate tracking, too.
Now, you don't need one of these devices to take advantage of the app.
It's actually open now so if you have a phone acting like a step counter, you could pair that and count steps.
The up move sinks automatically using Blue Tooth four, and it's compatible with IOS and Android.
If you're not used to using ftness fans or fitness clip-ons,.
Is a cheap entry point.
No just keep in mind, you can't swim with this.
If you wanna swim or take a shower with one of these, consider the Misfit Flash, which again is the same price.
You might even be able to get them for less.
They don't look tremendously attractive.
But it gets the job done.
I'm Scott Stein and this is the Jawbone Up Move available now.
